We have enjoyed our time in the gardens this month. With our interns, Come, Stay Awhile, & Serve participants, and all of the Koinonia Grow team working together, we’ve been able to harvest, turn over beds, plant for fall, and more!
We planted a lot of fall crops this month. We started with lettuce.
Here we planted cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, and brussel sprouts.
This fall garden plot is full of Fall Garden Plot with Carrots, Beets, Turnips, Rutabagas, and Radishes
In this plot, the Koinonia Grow team is planting collards, kale, Swiss chard, and mustards.
Collard greens planted and ready to grow!
We worked on harvesting the last of our okra and converted the okra plot into a strawberry bed!
After harvesting the last of the okra, it was time to chop down the okra plants and prepare the bed for the new strawberry plants.
After the plot is all prepared, it’s time to plant the strawberry plants!
Here’s our garden plot full of strawberry plants. Can’t wait for summer!
After all of our planting, we still had a few more things to harvest from our summer plants. We’ll have a few more green beans to eat this year.
We also had plenty of sweet potatoes to harvest. Digging for sweet potatoes is like a treasure hunt!
If you want to come see our gardens or come to Koinonia to work with us in the gardens for a 1-3 months, we would love to have you! Visit our website to learn more about short term visits or our Come, Stay Awhile, & Serve program.
